About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Frontend Infrastructure Engineer to join our JavaScript Infrastructure Engineering team. This high-impact team plays a crucial role in enhancing the productivity of Stripe’s frontend engineers by developing and maintaining core infrastructural libraries, utilities, and services. The role involves working on complex, large-scale web applications used by thousands of engineers across the globe. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving frontend development workflows, optimizing build processes, and creating tools that enable engineers to work faster and more efficiently. You will have the opportunity to own critical parts of Stripe’s frontend infrastructure, including package management, build tools, and TypeScript systems, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive innovation. This is a unique chance to influence the developer experience at a global scale and contribute to Stripe’s mission of increasing the GDP of the internet.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years of software development experience with a strong foundation in JavaScript or TypeScript
• Proficiency in modern frontend ecosystems and experience working on complex web applications with a global user base
• Deep systems thinking, considering edge cases, failure modes, and downstream effects in solution design
• Motivated by improving developer experience and measuring success through team productivity and happiness
• Comfortable working independently on ambiguous problems with high autonomy
• Strong written communication skills, able to clearly share context and decisions across distributed teams
• Experience building or contributing to developer tooling, CLI tools, or build infrastructure is preferred
• Background in frontend development with React is advantageous but not mandatory
  
  

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Stripe’s frontend package manager, build toolchain, bundler setup, and TypeScript infrastructure
• Lay the groundwork for AI-native frontend development to enhance productivity and capabilities
• Drive consistency and enforce best practices across Stripe’s JavaScript codebases through tooling and standards
• Own Service Level Objectives (SLOs) related to build performance, installation speed, and developer tooling reliability
• Debug and resolve developer-facing incidents during on-call rotations, providing timely support to UI engineers
• Partner with frontend product and platform teams to identify friction points and implement continuous improvements to the core edit/build/test loop
