Main Goal of the Role
To support the technical implementation and integration of narrative and cinematic experiences. You will work within established pipelines to ensure quest structures, dialogue, and storytelling elements are flawlessly executed and optimized within the game engines
Duties
- Implement and iterate on narrative-driven systems, features, and dialogue based on established designs.
- Execute complex scripting for quest structures, VO triggers, and interactive elements using internal tools and scripting languages.
- Maintain and troubleshoot narrative and quest systems to ensure they interact correctly with gameplay, animation, and audio.
- Collaborate across departments (Animation, Audio, VFX) to ensure the technical implementation aligns with the creative vision.
- Support the integration of VO, cinematics, and storytelling assets into the game builds.
- Assist in debugging and triaging narrative-related technical issues to ensure a smooth player experience.
- Contribute to documentation for tools and workflows to help maintain team knowledge.
- Participate in playtests to identify bugs or pacing issues within narrative sequences.
Qualifications
Experience
- 2+ years of professional experience in game design, quest design, or technical narrative design.
- Experience contributing to at least one shipped title (AAA or high-end Indie).
Must-have Technical Skills
- Proficiency in scripting and working within game engines (e.g., Unreal, Unity, or proprietary engines).
- Demonstrated experience implementing narrative structures, cinematics, gameplay moments, and dialogue systems.
- Familiarity with narrative pipelines, including VO integration and cinematic triggers.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug logic-heavy scripts.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with programmers and artists.
Nice-to-have
- Basic knowledge of C#, Lua, or Python.
- Experience with cinematic timeline tools (e.g., Unreal Sequencer).
