Founding Head of Engineering

Apollo Eco is one of Türkiye’s fastest-growing B2B startups, building large-scale energy intelligence systems used by enterprise customers to monitor, analyze, and optimize industrial resource consumption.

We are looking for a highly technical Founding Head of Development who will play a critical role in shaping the future of our engineering organization, architecture, and development culture. This is not a traditional management role — we are looking for someone who can deeply own the codebase, drive technical direction, build AI-native engineering workflows, and lead major architectural decisions as the company scales rapidly.

This role comes with significant ownership and equity upside. The person joining us will have the opportunity to directly influence both the technical foundation and the long-term direction of the company as part of the core leadership team.

What You’ll Own

AI-Driven Engineering Culture (Highest Priority)

You will lead the adoption of AI-assisted software development across the engineering team.

This includes:

• Designing and establishing AI coding workflows and engineering standards
• Building internal systems/processes for AI-assisted development (memory/context systems, coding standards, reusable workflows, etc.)
• Coaching engineers on how to effectively use AI tools in real-world software development
• Increasing team velocity and code quality through practical AI integration
• Evaluating and integrating modern AI engineering tooling into daily workflows

We strongly prefer candidates who already actively use AI in software engineering and can demonstrate real productivity gains.

Technical Leadership & Architecture

You will be responsible for the overall health and evolution of the codebase.

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing pull requests and enforcing engineering quality standards
• Working closely with Product to refine and split tickets correctly before development starts
• Identifying architectural improvements and converting them into actionable technical initiatives
• Leading major structural changes in the platform architecture
• Taking ownership of technical direction and long-term maintainability

Examples of initiatives you may lead:

• Database partitioning strategies
• Multi-tenant/customer-facility relationship redesigns
• Frontend architecture modernization
• Large-scale refactoring projects
• Performance and scalability improvements

Engineering Operations & Infrastructure

You will help modernize and scale our engineering operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Redesigning and improving CI/CD pipelines
• Leading DevOps and deployment operations
• Building robust monitoring, observability, and logging systems
• Improving reliability, debugging, and incident response processes
• Establishing scalable engineering workflows

Database & Scalability

Our platform processes large volumes of time-series energy data. Experience with high-scale data systems is highly valuable.

You should be comfortable:

• Making database architecture decisions
• Optimizing performance-critical systems
• Managing large datasets efficiently
• Leading infrastructure or technology migrations when necessary

Experience with time-series databases or high-volume analytical systems is a strong plus.

QA & Cross-Functional Collaboration

You will work closely with QA and Product teams to improve delivery quality and development efficiency.

This includes:

• Improving testing workflows and release quality
• Helping define clearer acceptance criteria
• Reducing ambiguity before implementation starts
• Creating sustainable development processes across teams

Nice-to-Have

• Experience building AI-powered products or internal AI systems
• RAG systems, embeddings, vector databases, LLM integrations, agent workflows
• Experience with frontend architectural redesigns
• Experience scaling engineering teams and processes
• Experience in energy, IoT, analytics, or industrial software
