Senior Backend & Integration Developer

Initial 3 month contract with potential for extension based on MVP progress

Inner Brisbane Suburb with 2 days work from home option

We're supporting a Brisbane-based product and innovation team building a connected client platform MVP and are looking for a Senior Backend & Integration Developer.

This role sits in a fast-moving MVP environment where a front-end pilot already exists, and internal product and integration teams are actively defining the core “client profile” model, workflows, and system architecture.

Rather than a greenfield build or large-scale transformation program, this is a focused execution role, bringing defined concepts to life through robust backend services, APIs, and integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and RESTful APIs
• Develop and support system integrations and data flows
• Implement and maintain client/data modelling structures
• Collaborate closely with product, front-end, and integration stakeholders
• Contribute to MVP readiness and iterative product delivery
• Work within an evolving but pragmatic architecture environment

Tech environment (indicative)

The stack is still being finalised during the current discovery phase, but likely includes:

• Node.js and/or Python
• REST APIs and integration services
• Cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Supabase)
• Data flow and integration architecture tooling

Who will be a strong fit

• Backend or product engineers with strong practical delivery experience
• People confident building APIs and integration layers in MVP/startup-style environments
• Engineers who enjoy working close to product and stakeholders
• Strong systems thinkers who can connect platforms and data models effectively
• Someone comfortable with ambiguity during early-stage product shaping
