Trainee, HR Generalist

We are looking for a service-oriented HR intern for the School of Arts, Design and Architecture (ARTS) at Aalto University for a fixed-term position from September 2026 to May 2027. The work is part-time 60% and suitable to be done alongside studies.

The traineeship is intended for a student at a higher education institution who has a valid right to study and whose studies this traineeship supports.

You will be part of the school's professional and cheerful HR team, receiving the team's support and comprehensive orientation throughout your internship. As an HR intern, you will contribute to supporting the success, enthusiasm, and well-being of the staff. Our team fosters an open and trusting atmosphere, where fun and supporting each other are central. With us, you will develop your human resources skills in a safe work environment, where joy and collaboration help through even the darker days of autumn.

Your Tasks

As an HR intern, you will work as part of the HR team supporting academic and service staff in versatile human resource management tasks. Your main tasks include, among others:

  • Preparing employment contracts and fee payments
  • Assisting in advisory and resolution tasks related to employment matters
  • Supporting recruitment tasks
  • Participating in the development of operations together with the school's HR team
  • Supporting communication tasks such as internal communication and customer and stakeholder communication
  • Undertaking varied tasks according to your interests, such as assisting in event organisation

Your Skills

Workdays are varied, and tasks are diverse, requiring good organizational and time management skills. In your work, you will perform tasks that require precision, also independently, so we appreciate a careful and proactive work style. You do not shy away from routines and keep up with a fast-paced work environment. We serve customers both face-to-face and through various online channels, so excellent collaboration, customer service, and interaction skills provide a good foundation for success in this role.

You will work in an international community, where fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage. You can utilize good IT skills across various systems; we use systems such as Workday and Efecte. An interest and skill in working with artificial intelligence are considered a plus. You are studying for a lower or higher university degree in a relevant field for the position, and we offer the possibility to seamlessly combine work and studies. It is important to us that you are enthusiastic and curious to learn new things and keen to develop your human resources skills in an international organization.

Salary is determined according to the general collective agreement for universities. The intern's salary is €2400/month at 100% working hours.
