Team

You will join the HERE Tracking team, a diverse and international group of engineers, product managers, and domain experts working at the intersection of logistics, IoT, and location intelligence. Our mission is to bring transparency, predictability, and sustainability to global supply chains.

The team builds and operates a scalable tracking platform that provides real-time insights into shipments worldwide. We work closely with customers, partners, and internal teams to continuously improve our product and turn complex data into meaningful, actionable solutions.

NOTE: This is a part-time position (18.75 hours per week), a 6-month contract, well-suited for students who enjoy working with people, bringing clarity and structure, and keeping teams engaged.

Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist Intern, you won't just be playing with notebooks; you’ll be part of a team building scalable ML solutions. We focus on the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning, leveraging AWS to move from hypothesis to production.

What You’ll Do

• Model Development: Build, train, and tune machine learning models exclusively within AWS SageMaker.
• MLOps Pipeline: Assist in setting up and maintaining SageMaker Pipelines for automated model training and deployment.
• Data Processing: Use SageMaker Processing and Data Wrangler to transform raw datasets into high-quality features.
• Deployment: Deploy models as REST endpoints using SageMaker Hosting Services and monitor their performance.
• Optimization: Utilize SageMaker Debugger and Model Monitor to ensure our models are robust and explainable.
  
  

Who are you?

• Currently pursuing a BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, GIS, or a related field.
• Basic programming skills in Python or Java, with an understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Foundational experience in data analysis, mining, and visualization.
• Familiarity with GIS platforms is a plus.
• Understanding of concepts such as cognitive load, driver distraction, and human-in-the-loop systems is a nice-to-have.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
