Job Description: DevOps Engineer (AWS & Kubernetes)
Position Overview
- The role is under Arbeitnehmeruberlassung contract for 18 months initially
- Requires Fluency in German
- The role requires 2 days onsite in Kiel
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with strong experience in AWS cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes orchestration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to support modern cloud-native applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Build and maintain Kubernetes clusters for containerized applications.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security across environments.
- Automate operational tasks, deployments, scaling, and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with development, QA, and security teams to improve release processes and platform reliability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
- Ensure infrastructure follows security best practices and compliance standards.
- Support disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as:
- EC2
- EKS
- ECS
- S3
- RDS
- IAM
- VPC
- CloudWatch
- Route 53
- Solid experience with Kubernetes administration and container orchestration.
- Experience with Docker and containerized application deployment.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with Linux system administration.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
- Knowledge of networking, security, and cloud best practices.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect).
- Kubernetes certifications such as CKA or CKAD.
- Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, or service mesh technologies.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud-native applications.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
