This AI engineer position is for a fast-growing technology company in Amsterdam that’s building real-world AI solutions already operating at scale — and they’re now looking to bring in an AI Engineer to help take things to the next level.

This isn’t a research-only environment or a role where models sit in notebooks. The team is focused on building AI systems that are deployed, used by customers, and driving genuine business impact.

They’re looking for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and wants to work across the full AI lifecycle — from development and experimentation through to deployment, optimisation, and production scalability.

Please note: this opportunity is only available on a payroll contract basis and is not open to freelance/ZZP contractors.

What You’ll Be Working On

You’ll join a highly collaborative engineering and AI team, working closely with Data Scientists, Product teams, and Software Engineers to build scalable AI-powered applications.

The work includes:

• Developing and deploying production-grade AI/ML solutions
• Building scalable pipelines and backend AI services
• Working on GenAI and LLM-based applications
• Improving infrastructure, monitoring, and model performance
• Designing cloud-native AI systems
• Implementing MLOps and CI/CD best practices
• Helping shape technical direction and architecture as the company continues to scale

What They’re Looking For

• Experience as an AI Engineer, ML Engineer, or strong Software Engineer with AI exposure
• Strong Python development skills
• Hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn
• Experience deploying models into production environments
• Good understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern engineering practices
• Knowledge of APIs, backend systems, and scalable architectures
• Exposure to MLOps tooling and automated deployment pipelines
• Interest or experience in Generative AI, LLMs, RAG pipelines, or vector databases would be a big plus
