Do you want to join a dynamic, agile team that develops solutions directly contributing to Volvo’s mission of driving prosperity through transport and infrastructure? We are seeking Automotive Embedded Software Engineers with expertise in Powertrain Control and Transmission Systems. As part of our team, you will develop cutting-edge embedded software for commercial vehicles — from diesel and alternative fuels to electric trucks.Our team works cross-functionally and globally, collaborating with colleagues in Brazil, Sweden, and France.

Your role in the team

For this position, we are looking for engineers capable of working in the following activities:

• Developing embedded software for powertrain control and transmission-related functions
• Designing, implementing, integrating, and testing software solutions for diverse vehicle applications
• Collaborating with system, hardware, and verification teams to deliver reliable, production-ready software
• Performing troubleshooting and analysis in vehicles and test environments to support issue resolution
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to continuous improvement
• Aligning technical solutions with system and product requirements across the full lifecycle
• Supporting development activities throughout advanced engineering, product development, and maintenance phases
  
  

Your main activities will include

• Designing and developing embedded software for powertrain control functions
• Collaborating with hardware, system, and calibration engineers to ensure seamless integration
• Conducting testing, verification, and validation of embedded software
• Performing troubleshooting activities in vehicles to support issue resolution and validation
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to software quality improvements
• Working throughout the full product lifecycle, from advanced engineering to maintenance
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• BSc/MSc in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Hands-on experience in embedded software development
• Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink/ASCET and C programming
• Strong communication skills in English and Portuguese
• A responsible, proactive, and open-minded team player
• Availability for on-site work
  
  

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Experience in Powertrain Control or Transmission Systems.
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols and standards (CAN, AUTOSAR, ASPICE).
• Familiarity with measurement and verification tools (ATI Vision, CANalyzer).
• Additional programming skills (Python, Matlab scripting).
• A truck driver’s license (considered a merit).
• Motivation to bring solutions from system design to verification.
