VTU is entering a strong growth phase in the Benelux, with the clear ambition to significantly expand our market position in Life Sciences, Power, and Chemical industries. Our strength lies in combining deep technical expertise with execution capability in highly regulated environments.


We are looking for a commercially driven Head of Sales & Business Development who can sell complex technical solutions. This role combines business development, deal closing, and technical solutioning. You will own revenue growth while being credible in conversations with both C-level stakeholders and technical team.

You will be supported by experienced engineering teams that enable you to sell credible, deliverable solutions.

Your responsibilities:

You lead and scale the sales and business development activities of our engineering teams across the Benelux, with a focus on Life Sciences, Power, and Chemical markets. You are accountable for driving sustainability, high-quality growth and achieving Order Intake.


You operate at the intersection of commercial leadership and technical credibility: shaping client solutions, challenging assumptions, and closing complex deals.


Business Development & Market Leadership

  • Drive market expansion by identifying new sectors, use cases, and strategic partnership
  • Maintain a strong view on industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies
  • Translate market insights into actionable go-to-market strategies
  • Position VTU as a trusted partner in complex engineering projects


Sales Execution (end-to-end ownership)

  • Build, own, and continuously develop a qualified pipeline aligned with revenue targets
  • Lead complex sales cycles from initial qualification to deal closing
  • Structure and present integrated technical and commercial proposals
  • Define pricing and packaging strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Convert client needs and feedback into scalable commercial opportunities
  • Handle key accounts


Technical Leadership in Sales

  • Act as a credible counterpart for both client executives and technical stakeholders
  • Lead or support deep-dive technical discussions during the sales process
  • Ensure proposed solutions are both commercially viable and operationally deliverable
  • Bridge effectively between clients and engineering teams


You report directly to the Managing Director and are a member of the Benelux Management & Leadership Team, while working in close alignment with the Group Director BD & Sales and collaborating closely with the various sales teams across the VTU Group. You ensure full compliance with all VTU standards.

  • Selling complex, high-value projects backed by strong engineering capabilities
  • High visibility and impact: Direct exposure to leadership and influence on strategic direction
  • Ownership and autonomy: Freedom to define go-to-market approach, partnerships, and commercial priorities


Who are we looking for:

Required

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience
  • 10+ years in a senior commercial role within industrial engineering or process industries (pharma, biotech, chemical)
  • Proven track record in closing complex, high-value, solution-based deals
  • Strong understanding of technical solution structuring
  • Ability to operate independently across the full sales cycle
  • Native or near-native fluency in Dutch and English is required. Proficiency in French and/or German is considered a strong advantage


Valued

  • Experience in project delivery or project management in regulated environments
  • Experience in building or leading commercial teams
  • Cross-border or multi-market exposure
