Data & Analytics Engineering Lead

Ridango
Estonia · Full-time · Associate

Own the full data stack for a transit technology platform used by operators across Europe, the Middle East and Asia — from ETL pipelines through to BI dashboards and AI-powered analytics. A hands-on lead role at real scale — a single client can generate multiple terabytes of operational data annually — with genuine architectural authority and a team to grow.

About Ridango

We are 200+ people with engineering teams across Estonia, Slovenia, Sweden, the UK and Ireland, building the hardware-software stack that processes fare payments and runs fleet operations for transit operators across Europe, the Middle East and Asia — systems millions of people depend on daily. The data function is at an inflection point: the architecture is in production, but needs someone to raise the standards and scale the team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design and build customer-facing and internal data platforms — data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, AI stack, and BI/reporting solutions.
  • Define and enforce data architecture standards across Ridango — modelling, pipeline design, governance and tooling.
  • Own data governance across the organisation — data quality, access policies and documentation standards.
  • Build AI-based analytics and KPI dashboards for internal stakeholders (Engineering, Product, Operations, Finance) on top of project tracking, ERP, HR and other internal systems.
  • Collaborate with Product and customer-facing teams to ensure data exports are structured for reporting and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Occasional direct exposure to end-customers — supporting reporting discussions and translating customer needs into technical solutions.
  • Lead, mentor and grow the Data & Reporting team through 1:1s, development plans and workload management.

What we're looking for:

  • Hands-on data engineering background — data warehouse design, ETL/ELT pipelines, data modelling, SQL and BI/reporting platforms. You've built this, not just supervised it.
  • Proven track record delivering reporting solutions for external customers in a B2B technology environment.
  • Fluent with AI-assisted development, or strong interest in getting there — AI tools are a core part of how we work.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based analytics and strong data governance discipline.
  • Team leadership skills — comfortable developing a small technical team and engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with AI tooling for semantic data modelling is a plus.

We offer:

  • An opportunity to participate in high-impact system development with a combination of hardware and software that influences billions of people around the globe.
  • Dynamic and challenging work in a growing international technology company.
  • Passionate and experienced leaders. A company culture that empowers people and where each employee’s contribution counts and is valued.
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Passion, fun, and power to make public transportation seamless to use.
