Your Role And Responsibilities

You will join Process Industries Finland, part of ABB’s Process Automation division. Our unit delivers electrification and automation solutions, industry-specific products and lifecycle services for customers in Metals, Mining, Pulp&Paper, and Battery manufacturing. By combining deep industry expertise with strong electrical and automation integration capabilities, we help our customers improve productivity, shorten start-up times and optimize investment and operating costs. Our projects range from smaller brownfield upgrades and extensions to large international greenfield projects running over several years.

The position can be based in either Vaasa or Helsinki.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Supporting the planning and execution of industrial electrification and automation projects
  • Coordinating project tasks, schedules, documentation and follow-ups together with the Project Manager and project team
  • Monitoring project progress, costs and resource needs using project management tools and reporting routines
  • Supporting risk, change and claim management by collecting information and maintaining project records
  • Working closely with engineering, procurement, site, finance and other stakeholders to secure smooth project execution
  • Communicating with customers and internal stakeholders in a professional and service-minded way
  • Developing your project management capabilities through hands-on work, mentoring and ABB project governance practices


Qualifications For The Role

  • M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Engineering, Business, or another relevant field
  • Some relevant work experience from project business, industrial companies, consulting, engineering, operations, supply chain or similar environment
  • Interest in project management, project controls, commercial topics and continuous improvement
  • Structured and proactive way of working, with the ability to follow up details and keep several topics moving at the same time
  • Collaborative, solution-focused mindset and good written and spoken communication skills
  • Good command of English and Finnish. We also appreciate other languages, especially Swedish.
  • Hands-on experience or strong interest in working with project schedules, including planning, updating and following up schedules using tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling and project management tools

The Process Industries Division serves the mining, minerals processing, metals, cement, pulp and paper, battery manufacturing, and food and beverage, as well as their associated service industries. The Division brings deep industry domain expertise coupled with the ability to integrate both automation and electrical systems, increase productivity and reduce overall capital and operating costs for customers. For mining, metals and cement customers, solutions include specialized products and services, as well as total production systems. The Division designs, plans, engineers, supplies, installs and commissions integrated electrical and motion systems, including electric equipment, drives, motors, high power rectifiers and equipment for automation and supervisory control within a variety of areas including mineral handling, mining operations, aluminum smelting, hot and cold steel applications and cement production. The offering for the pulp and paper industries includes control systems, quality control systems, drive systems, on-line sensors, actuators and field instruments. Digitalization solutions, including collaborative operations and augmented reality, help improve plant and enterprise productivity, and reduce maintenance and energy costs.
