Software Engineer – Open Source Systems

We are currently partnered with a leading global technology organisation seeking a Software Engineer to join its Open Source Engineering team. This team plays a critical role in enabling the use, contribution to, and distribution of open-source software across the business. You will help develop the tooling, infrastructure, and applications that support software compliance, Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) generation, and open-source governance at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support full-stack web applications and services
• Build and extend automation, workflows, and tooling to optimise open-source review and compliance processes
• Develop systems for Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) generation and software composition analysis
• Integrate applications with engineering tools, platforms, and internal systems
• Collaborate with compliance, legal, product engineering, IT, and release engineering teams to support open-source initiatives

Key requirements

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices
• Experience designing and developing web services, applications, and microservice architectures
• Strong Python development experience
• Expert-level knowledge of Django and React
• Experience building asynchronous task processing systems using Celery and RabbitMQ
• Strong SQL skills with experience working with PostgreSQL
