Senior Project Manager (6-Month Contract)
Job Description
Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead strategic business change and software delivery initiatives. This contract role requires a commercially minded professional with a proven ability to drive project outcomes, engage stakeholders, and deliver business-critical technology projects within a regulated environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex business and technology projects, ensuring objectives are achieved within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, success criteria, and implementation plans.
- Manage multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining clear priorities and delivery focus.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and dependencies, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive continuous improvement of project governance, reporting, and PMO processes.
- Support release planning activities, ensuring resource capacity and business priorities are aligned.
- Facilitate decision-making processes and ensure successful adoption of change across the organisation.
Experience Required
- Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Project Manager delivering business and technology change initiatives.
- Previous experience within the financial services sector, ideally operating within regulated environments.
- Proven track record of delivering software implementation and business transformation projects.
- Experience managing project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies and best practice frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently while managing competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Experience working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Experience delivering projects within wealth management, insurance, pensions, banking, or broader financial services organisations.
- Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Experience establishing or enhancing PMO functions and project governance frameworks.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Experience with project planning, reporting, and collaboration tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional Project Management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Practitioner, Scrum Master, or equivalent.
