Senior Network Engineer

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension).

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Your Profile & DNA:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that integrate networking hardware, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in networking technologies, distributed systems, automation, and storage infrastructure, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges in large-scale environments.

Roles & Responsibilities

Platform Integration

• Design, develop, and maintain SDKs, APIs, and integration layers connecting software applications with hardware platforms and cloud services.
• Ensure seamless communication between networking devices and cloud-based management systems.

Feature Development

• Develop and enhance front-end and back-end features for network management platforms.
• Contribute to Security, SD-WAN, and Switching solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

Networking & Protocol Development

• Design, implement, and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking functionalities.
• Work with networking protocols including VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Routing, IPv4, and IPv6.
• Support network configuration, monitoring, and optimization initiatives.

Automation & Scripting

• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline network provisioning and operational workflows.
• Create and manage webhooks, APIs, and custom payload templates to support scalable deployments.
• Improve operational efficiency through automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Troubleshooting & Debugging

• Investigate and resolve complex customer-facing issues across distributed systems.
• Develop test cases and validation frameworks to reproduce, diagnose, and remediate software defects.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

Storage & Backup Management

• Monitor, maintain, and optimize enterprise storage and backup environments.
• Ensure data availability, integrity, and recoverability to support business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
• Conduct regular system audits, health checks, and compliance assessments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve storage, backup, and recovery-related issues.

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.
• 8–10 years of experience in software engineering, network engineering, or related roles.
• Strong programming and software development experience with API and SDK development.
• Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols including VLANs, STP, Routing, IPv4, and IPv6.
• Experience with Security, SD-WAN, and Switching technologies.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python, Shell, or similar languages.
• Experience working with cloud-managed networking platforms and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of storage technologies, backup solutions, and disaster recovery practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration abilities.
