From integrated lead generation and member acquisition to member management, payment collection, workforce management, multi-location management and a customer data platform to give sports entrepreneurs exactly what they need to grow.

About the role

We believe great software is built by engineers who deeply understand the problems they’re solving.

Rather than handing engineers detailed specifications and predefined solutions, we start with customer problems. Engineers collaborate with founders, product, and design to understand the challenge, evaluate trade-offs, and determine the best solution.

We move quickly, but we don’t confuse speed with recklessness. We believe in finding the right balance between shipping valuable improvements today and building systems that can support the company years from now.

We also value focus. We keep processes lightweight, avoid unnecessary meetings, and encourage written communication whenever possible. Our goal is to maximize time spent building, learning, and solving problems.

You’ll be trusted to make decisions, challenge assumptions, propose improvements, and drive projects from idea to production. We value engineers who think like product builders and who care about delivering meaningful outcomes for customers.

What You’ll Build

Huppa sits at the intersection of scheduling, payments, memberships, customer management, mobile application, automation, and AI.

Some examples of the challenges we’re working on include:

• Building flexible membership and booking systems that support a wide variety of gym business models without requiring custom development.
• Designing integrations with partners such as Urban Sports Club and ClassPass while maintaining a consistent experience for gyms and members.
• Creating AI-powered workflows that automate repetitive administrative tasks and help gym staff operate more efficiently.
• Building mobile applications that improve engagement, retention, and communication between gyms and their members.
• Scaling a multi-tenant platform that supports many organizations with different operational requirements while maintaining a clean and maintainable architecture.
• Improving performance, reliability, and developer experience across the entire platform.

No two projects are exactly the same, and you’ll frequently move between product, architecture, infrastructure, and user experience challenges.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end, from discovery and technical design to implementation and deployment
• Design and build flexible systems that support evolving gym workflows
• Develop and maintain backend services using PHP and Laravel
• Build modern frontend experiences using Vue and TypeScript
• Contribute to our React Native mobile applications
• Collaborate closely with founders, product, and design to solve customer problems
• Improve architecture, performance, scalability, and maintainability across the platform
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions that raise the quality of our engineering organization
• Contribute to infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational improvements where appropriate
• Explore and apply AI tooling and automation to improve both our product and engineering workflows

Qualifications

• You enjoy tackling real-world product complexity and want to help shape a product that actually solves user pain
• Have around 5+ years of hands-on full-stack development experience, with a strong back-end focus
• Experience with React Native or interest in building mobile apps alongside web platforms
• Write clean, modern PHP/Laravel and Vue/TypeScript
• Are comfortable making autonomous decisions
• Care about delivering value fast, while maintaining scalability
• Have an entrepreneurial & hacker mindset: speed is important but mindful! You apply AI to enhance and accelerate your development process
• You are based in the Netherlands or able to work remotely within a compatible European time zone

• You prefer highly structured environments with detailed specifications for every project
• You only want to work on a specific layer of the stack
• You need an extensive process, planning ceremonies, or constant direction to move projects forward
• You dislike ambiguity or changing priorities
• You prefer maintaining existing systems over building new products
• You are looking for a large organization with highly specialized engineering roles 

Bonus if you have

• Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event-Driven Architectures, or Event Sourcing
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS products
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience integrating external platforms and APIs
• Contributions to open-source projects
• Experience working in startup environments
