Freelance Web Designer – Squarespace Portfolio & Shop

This role involves designing and developing a visually engaging Squarespace website for an artist and writer based in Madrid. The website will serve as both a personal portfolio and an online shop, showcasing colourful, narrative-driven works such as artist books, drawings, and prints. The ideal candidate will create a site that balances immersive visual storytelling with clear navigation, encouraging visitors to explore the artist’s work in depth while providing a seamless shopping experience. The project requires a strong sense of visual design, attention to detail, and the ability to translate creative concepts into a professional, user-friendly website. The site is expected to be ready for launch by the end of June.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and developing Squarespace websites, preferably for artists, creatives, or online shops
• Strong visual sensibility and ability to create engaging, narrative-driven layouts
• Proficiency in customizing Squarespace templates and integrating e-commerce functionality
• Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) best practices
• Ability to implement clear navigation and intuitive site structure
• Familiarity with optimizing images and content for web performance
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret creative briefs
• Availability to deliver the completed website by the end of June
