Senior DevOps Engineer

Intellias is partnering with a Fortune 100, Midwest-based industrial manufacturer to modernize and expand a suite of cloud-based services and data products used by a global network of dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units. Our cross-functional teams deliver scalable APIs, event-driven services, and analytics pipelines that power quoting, ordering, asset telemetry, diagnostics, and lifecycle support for heavy equipment in the field.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain automated AWS-based infrastructure solutions for large-scale engineering environments.
• Develop and support Infrastructure as Code templates and automation using AWS CloudFormation, AWS SAM, Serverless Framework, or similar technologies.
• Create, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for application delivery, infrastructure deployment, and engineering automation.
• Work with AWS services to design and support secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable cloud environments.
• Support cloud networking, DNS, routing, access management, and security configurations across complex environments.
• Automate infrastructure, deployment, and operational processes using Python, Bash, and API integrations.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, networking, permissions, and application deployment flows.
• Build reusable templates, documentation, examples, and enablement materials to simplify delivery for development teams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer experience, reduce manual effort, and standardize deployment practices.
• Contribute to platform reliability, observability, operational readiness, and infrastructure best practices.
• Support application teams with build, packaging, deployment, and release automation activities.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying areas for simplification, automation, and process optimization.
• Take ownership of infrastructure solutions end-to-end, from design and implementation through deployment and production support.
• Participate in regular on-call rotations, supporting production systems through incident response, troubleshooting, escalation, and post-incident improvements.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and promote DevOps, cloud engineering, and automation best practices.

What you need for this

Mandatory

• 7+ years of experience designing, building, deploying, and maintaining automated infrastructure solutions and AWS–based platforms for large-scale engineering organizations with 100+ developers and 100+ services.
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS core services, including IAM, VPC, API Gateway, ELB, and RDS.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly AWS CloudFormation, AWS SAM, and Serverless Framework, for managing complex cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and DNS using Route 53.
• Strong experience with CI/CD principles and tools, including designing, creating, and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines using Azure Pipelines or similar platforms.
• Proficiency with Python and Bash for infrastructure automation, CI/CD automation, and integration with APIs such as AWS, GitHub, and Azure DevOps.
• Strong focus on simplification and automation, with the ability to design and deliver solutions that reduce complexity for development teams.
• Highly autonomous and self-directed approach, with the ability to independently learn new tools and services through documentation, experimentation, and hands-on delivery.
• Exceptional troubleshooting and debugging skills across infrastructure, networking, security, permissions, and deployment pipelines.
• Ability to take a problem from definition to a completed, production-ready solution with strong attention to detail and minimal supervision.
• Strong ownership and self-management in a fast-paced Agile environment, with the ability to independently deliver end-to-end infrastructure solutions, resolve blockers, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to provide 6 hours overlap with US Central Time (CT) on business days (till 2 pm CT latest)

Nice to Have

• Experience with additional AWS services such as DynamoDB, Kinesis, CloudFront, ECS, Lambda, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Experience creating reusable artifacts for development teams, including templates, libraries, examples, documentation, and onboarding materials.
• Familiarity with containerization using Docker.
• Experience with build and packaging ecosystems for Java and/or Python applications, including Maven.
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub for source code management in a multi-repository environment.
• Experience supporting developer productivity, internal platforms, or shared engineering services.
• Experience improving CI/CD standardization, release automation, and infrastructure governance across multiple teams.
