At Altus, we're on a mission to eliminate administrative work through intelligent automation, freeing people to focus on what truly matters. Our Project Portfolio Management platform helps organisations plan, prioritise and deliver their most important work. As our global customer base grows, we're looking for a Senior React Engineer to own and evolve the front-end experience that our customers rely on every day.
This is a senior engineering role with real ownership. You'll shape our component architecture, drive UI quality and consistency across the platform, and mentor other engineers in modern React practices. You'll think deeply about how users interact with our product by designing composable, accessible interfaces that scale with the business while collaborating closely with Product and the wider engineering team to turn customer problems into elegant solutions.
Why join Altus?
- Own the front-end architecture of a fast-growing platform that helps organisations deliver their most important work
- Build and steward a component system and design language used across the entire product
- Work with a modern stack – React, TypeScript, Azure DevOps – integrated into the broader Microsoft ecosystem
- Join a collaborative engineering team spanning Australia and Europe, with real influence over technical direction
- Use AI-assisted development tools to work smarter, automate the routine and ship with confidence
The Role
As a Senior React Engineer, you'll be a technical leader within the Altus Engineering team. You'll own our front-end component architecture by designing, building, and maintaining a composable UI system that powers the entire product surface. Your work will directly shape how customers experience the platform.
You'll set the standard for front-end quality by writing clean, well-tested, accessible code and establishing patterns that other engineers adopt. You'll coach and mentor developers across the team, raise the bar through thoughtful code reviews, and help shape our engineering culture around craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
You'll partner closely with Design and Product to translate customer needs into well-constructed interfaces, and with back-end and platform engineers to ensure our React layer integrates cleanly with the wider Microsoft ecosystem. You'll work within an Agile team, staying curious about emerging technologies and always looking for better ways of working.
What you'll be doing
- Design and build a composable, reusable React component system that scales with the product and the team
- Define and champion front-end architecture patterns, conventions and best practices across the engineering team
- Mentor and coach other engineers, through pairing, code reviews and technical guidance, raising front-end capability across the team
- Collaborate closely with Product to translate customer problems into well-designed, intuitive user experiences
- Drive UI quality, accessibility and performance ensuring the product feels fast, polished and reliable
- Support and improve automated build, test and deployment pipelines, looking for ways to make development faster and more reliable
- Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve engineering workflows
- Work with a product mindset by thinking about how your solutions serve many customers, evolve over time and fit into the broader platform
About you
You're an experienced front-end engineer who has built and maintained component systems at scale. You care deeply about UI craft with clean component architecture, consistent design language, accessibility, and you get energy from helping other engineers grow. You think in systems, collaborate naturally with Product, and bring a genuine product mindset to everything you build.
You’ll likely bring:
- 5 to 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on front-end / UI engineering
- Deep expertise in React and TypeScript, including component library design, state management and modern rendering patterns
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining a shared component system, design system or UI toolkit used across a product or organisation
- Hands-on experience with .NET, C#, SQL and front-end technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React)
- A solid understanding of computer science principles and software design concepts
- Superior communication, analytical and time management skills
Bonus points if you have experience with
- Azure DevOps, Github Actions and automated build/release pipelines
- Building complex PCFControls for the Microsoft Power Platform
- AI-assisted coding tools and automated documentation
Microsoft Certifications (Azure, Power Platform) and tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related discipline are highly valued.
Why this role is special

- Grow your craft alongside a collaborative, quality-focused engineering team
- Contribute to the continued growth of a fast-moving global platform
