Product Designer - Award Winning Fintech Scaleup

About this role

Quickli is a high-growth Australian fintech hiring a Product Designer to own design excellence across our flagship product - a platform used by 14,000+ mortgage brokers across Australia.

This is a hands-on role at the heart of the product. You’ll work directly with the founders and engineering team, from the earliest “how should we even approach this?” conversations through to shipped, polished product. No bureaucracy, no layers between you and the people who say yes - just fast decisions and your work in front of 14,000+ users.

We’re not looking for a designer who hands off a Figma file and walks away. We’re looking for a true craftsperson: someone generous with options, quick to share rough work, and energised by rapid iteration.

You’ll bring real taste, and enjoy exploring directions together. Early on, the founders make the final product calls - it’s the fastest way for you to absorb our customers and our product taste. As that depth builds, you’ll own more and more.

What you'll do

You’ll make a difference in two big ways:

1. Help us explore early. When we’re not sure how to approach a problem, you’re in the room spitballing with us - looking at it from angles we haven’t considered and quickly putting two or three rough directions on the table, before anyone commits to an approach.
2. Own design excellence. Once something is structurally sound and the flow works, you make it slick. You’re the person who spots the inconsistency, the cramped layout, the detail everyone else missed - and fixes it.

Day to day, you’ll:

• Pair with the founders during the pre-build phase, using AI-assisted prototyping tools (eg Claude Code, Base44) to pressure-test concepts in code, not just Figma
• Share prototypes early and rough, so we can iterate fast - we optimise for iteration and collaboration over big reveals
• Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our engineering team during build cycles to keep visual and UX quality high
• Hunt down inconsistencies, polish interfaces (even ones already in production), and continuously evolve our design system
• Stay close to what users are experiencing right now - the job isn’t done when the design ships

Requirements

• Proven product or UX design experience shipping SaaS products that users love
• Strong taste and a sharp eye for detail - you genuinely care about aesthetics and can articulate why something works (or doesn’t)
• Familiarity and hands-on experience with vibe coding / AI-assisted prototyping tools
• Fast feedback loops - you share work early, iterate quickly, and aren’t precious about throwaway prototypes
• Opinionated with high standards - you challenge confusing flows, don’t wait to be told what’s broken, and are just as effective when we choose a different direction
• 3 days a week in office in Bondi Junction (days/hours flexible)

Nice to haves (not essential)

• Startup or scaleup experience working closely with founders or senior leadership
• Experience creating and improving design systems
• B2B or SaaS product design background
• Familiarity with React, Tailwind, or modern front-end frameworks

You don’t need industry experience in mortgage or finance. We care about how you work, not where you’ve worked.
