Junior AI Engineer

bMonkeys is looking for a junior AI Engineer (freelance or consulting employee) to support a leading player in the industrial engineering sector, based in Belgium (Courcelles area), on high-impact AI-driven projects.

1/ CONTEXT

Our client is a well-established industrial group operating across Europe, with a strong focus on engineering and operational excellence.

Their IT department has developed a highly advanced internal ecosystem, including:

• A custom-built ERP used daily across operations
• A large-scale deployment of AI agents already integrated into business workflows
• A modern hybrid cloud infrastructure (Azure / GCP)

To support ongoing growth and innovation, our client is looking for an AI Engineer to join their IT engineering team.

2/ ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The role combines backend development and applied AI, with a strong focus on delivering concrete, production-ready solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and evolving AI agents integrated into operational workflows
• Maintaining and extending backend features of the internal ERP
• Designing and building REST APIs and data integrations
• Integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.) into business use cases
• Optimising database queries and working on PostgreSQL environments
• Contributing to automation flows (Power Automate)
• Delivering clean, stable, documented and production-ready code
• Collaborating closely with IT teams and business stakeholders

3/ PROFILE

We are looking for a pragmatic and delivery-oriented young engineer comfortable working in an existing and evolving environment.

a) Technical skills

• Strong proficiency in Python
• Experience with SQL / PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of REST APIs design and integration
• Experience with cloud environments (ideally Azure)
• Exposure to LLMs and AI agent design (or strong motivation to develop expertise)
• Ability to work on existing codebases

b) Soft skills

• Autonomous, structured and solution-oriented
• Strong team spirit and collaboration mindset
• Good communication skills (technical & non-technical)
• Curious, hands-on and eager to explore new technologies
• Strong focus on delivering tangible results
