Business Intelligence Support Engineer

My client, a national manufacturing organisation, is on the lookout for a Business Intelligence Support Engineer on a permanent basis in Cork.

The Job:

• Take full ownership of daily support, troubleshooting, and front-end development across a comprehensive Power BI environment.
• Collaborate closely with Senior BI Developers to manage incoming requests, resolve incidents, and deliver targeted fixes within agreed SLAs.
• Design and build highly intuitive, performant reports and semantic models utilizing DAX and Power Query.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for curated datasets, ensuring rigorous data quality validation and accurate documentation of test cases.
• Manage BI assets using Git-based version control, following standard branching conventions and assisting with deployment routines.
• Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and translate complex technical details for non-technical users.
• Develop internal documentation, playbooks, and FAQs to help streamline first-line BI support across the broader IT ecosystem.
• Participate in agile sprint sessions, maintain accurate ticketing, and help break down backlog items into clear, actionable tasks.
• Monitor report usage and performance metrics to proactively recommend and implement user experience enhancements.
• Gain exposure and grow your skills across the broader Microsoft Fabric stack over time.

Have You:

• Accumulated 3 to 5 years of proven experience delivering robust Power BI solutions, backed by strong data modeling and report design capabilities
• Achieved a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related technical discipline
• Developed a solid understanding of dimensional modeling and core data warehouse concepts
• Maintained a high level of accuracy and consistency across complex calculations, data definitions, and visual report designs
• Demonstrated organized, proactive communication skills with the ability to prioritize and triage effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Acquired a working knowledge of SQL Server, including joins, window functions, and stored procedures for analytics
• Gained familiarity with Azure Data Warehouse, Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks), or modern DevOps practices for BI
