Job Title: Senior Database Administrator (Oracle / SQL Server)

Location: Muscat, Oman (Onsite)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in Muscat, Oman on a long-term contract. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing mission-critical Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, security, and disaster recovery. This role requires expertise in enterprise database administration, cloud-enabled data platforms, and database automation while supporting business-critical applications in a 24x7 production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain Oracle (10g, 11g, 12c, 19c) and Microsoft SQL Server 2018 databases.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, Oracle GoldenGate, HP Serviceguard, and Veritas Cluster Server environments.
• Perform database upgrades, migrations, patching, and capacity planning.
• Ensure database security, user management, access control, encryption, and compliance with organizational policies.
• Develop and optimize SQL, PL/SQL, and T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages.
• Support production databases with proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Build and maintain ETL processes using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and IBM DataStage.
• Collaborate with application development teams to optimize database performance and application scalability.
• Develop business reports and dashboards using Power BI, SAP BusinessObjects, and Tableau.
• Participate in database architecture reviews and recommend best practices for scalability and reliability.
• Manage source code using Git and SVN while supporting CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, database standards, and operational procedures.
• Provide on-call support for production environments when required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in Oracle and SQL Server Database Administration.
• Proven experience managing enterprise-scale, high-availability production databases.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.
• Experience supporting mission-critical systems in 24x7 production environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud-based database platforms and hybrid environments.
• Exposure to enterprise data warehousing and data engineering solutions.
• Knowledge of database automation and scripting.
• Experience working in Banking, Government, Telecom, Aviation, or other large enterprise environments.
• Oracle and Microsoft database certifications will be an added advantage.
