About the role

Sprint Ceremony Facilitation & Cadence

  • Facilitate all Team Scrum ceremonies across three delivery teams with discipline and rigour: Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-up, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Ensure Sprint Planning commences with a fully refined, Definition of Ready-compliant backlog. If the backlog is not ready, that is a failure condition — identify it in advance and escalate to the TPO.
  • Own the sprint cadence. Ceremonies start on time, run to their timebox, and produce a defined output.
  • Drive meaningful retrospectives that produce a small number of committed measurable improvements.

Impediment Management

  • Identify, log, and relentlessly pursue resolution of impediments.
  • Distinguish between impediments the team can resolve internally and those requiring escalation to the Sales Tribe Lead RTE, the Tribe Technical Lead, or external parties.
  • Maintain a live impediment register visible to the team and the Tribe Lead.

Backlog Readiness & DoR Governance

  • Partner with Technical Product Owners and the Business Analyst to ensure stories are refined, estimated, and Definition of Ready-compliant at least one full sprint ahead of Sprint Planning.
  • Challenge stories that do not meet DoR.
  • Track and report backlog health metrics: DoR compliance rate, refinement coverage, story aging, and carry-over rates. Present these to the Tribe Lead on a cadenced basis.

Team Coaching & Agile Maturity

  • Coach team members in Agile principles, Scrum practices, and delivery discipline.
  • Build self-managing team behaviours. The Scrum Master’s ultimate measure of success is a team that requires progressively less facilitation.
  • Identify skill or knowledge gaps within the team and surface them to the Tribe Lead with a recommended remediation approach.
  • Facilitate team agreement on a Working Agreement and team norms at the commencement of the engagement. Review and update these at each quarterly PI boundary.

Program Increment BRP Planning & ART Participation

  • Prepare the team for PI BRP Planning: confirm capacity, surface dependencies, and ensure the team enters PI Planning with a current, prioritised team backlog.
  • Facilitate team breakout sessions during PI Planning. Assist in the production of team PI Objectives and iteration plans. Own the team’s risk and dependency identification within the PI Planning event.
  • Participate actively in ART-level ceremonies: ART Sync, System Demo, and Inspect & Adapt. Represent the team’s delivery health accurately and without embellishment.
  • Track PI Objective confidence levels and program predictability metrics. Report deviations from plan promptly.

Metrics, Visibility & Reporting

  • Maintain and publish team velocity, sprint burndown, and cumulative flow data. Metrics must be current, accurate, and visible to the team at all times.
  • Produce a concise sprint summary at the close of each sprint covering: velocity achieved vs planned, carry-over, impediments resolved, impediments outstanding, and retrospective commitment status.
  • Contribute to Tribe-level delivery reporting as directed by the Sales Tribe Lead RTE.

Hybrid Team Coordination

  • Operate effectively across Sydney, Thailand, and India time zones. Structure ceremonies, asynchronous communication, and Confluence documentation so that geography never introduces ambiguity or informational asymmetry.
  • Establish and maintain a shared operating rhythm that accommodates distributed team members without creating a two-tier — in-room and remote — participation experience.

About you

  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving business outcomes, ensuring features and solutions deliver measurable value and contribute to broader product objectives.
  • Strong ability to identify and resolve impediments, challenge assumptions, uncover root causes, and drive continuous improvement through thoughtful analysis and feedback.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, staying current with evolving Agile practices, delivery methodologies, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Proven ability to foster cross-functional collaboration, share knowledge openly, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive collective team success across Product, Business, Development, and Quality Assurance functions.
  • Certified SAFe® Practitioner — team-level Agile literacy across sprint ceremonies, backlog management, and ART operating model.
  • Certified SAFe® Release Train Engineer — program-level ART facilitation literacy; advantageous for a candidate with growth ambitions within the Tribe.
  • Certified SAFe® Agilist — enterprise framework literacy covering Lean-Agile mindset, SAFe principles, and program-level delivery cadence.
  • Working familiarity with insurance business domains (Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Customer Operations) sufficient to contextualise sprint content and facilitate meaningful Sprint Reviews with business stakeholders.
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
