A forward-thinking technology organisation is looking for a Software Engineer with strong Python and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience to help build and scale cloud-native products used by customers globally.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative engineering team focused on delivering scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions using modern cloud technologies.

The Role:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-native applications and services running within Google Cloud Platform. Working alongside product managers, architects, data specialists, and fellow engineers, they will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through to deployment and optimisation.

The role offers exposure to modern cloud technologies, distributed systems, microservices, CI/CD practices, and emerging AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python.
• Build scalable microservices and APIs for customer-facing products.
• Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform.
• Work with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Implement automated testing and maintain high code quality standards.
• Optimise application performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure improvements.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning.
• Monitor production environments and support troubleshooting activities.
• Ensure security and compliance best practices are embedded within solutions.

Required Experience:

• Strong commercial experience developing software using Python.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architecture principles.
• Experience with modern software development practices and Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, testing, and debugging.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.
