Senior Software Engineer - Android

Join a global technology leader at the forefront of next-generation mobile, wearable and XR innovation. Working within a highly collaborative Sensors Technologies team, you'll play a key role in developing software that powers cutting-edge sensor features across a range of intelligent devices, helping bring innovative technologies from concept through to commercialisation.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing and testing Android applications for sensor data collection and feature demonstrations.
  • Developing cross-platform desktop applications (Windows and Linux) with intuitive user interfaces to interact with Android devices for data collection, device control, visualisation and post-processing using Java, Kotlin, Python, C++, C# and .NET.
  • Developing high-quality Java-based software components following industry-standard design principles and best practices.
  • Creating software for prototype and reference platforms across smartphones, wearables and XR devices.
  • Collaborating with global cross-functional engineering teams to support the development and commercialisation of innovative sensor algorithms and features.
  • Contributing to end-to-end data processing pipelines, monitoring production workflows and optimising data quality and performance.
  • Supporting global internal data collection campaigns, troubleshooting applications and assisting users during field testing.
  • Supporting customer programmes through algorithm validation, data analysis and technical issue investigation.


About You:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years' experience developing Android applications using the Android SDK (Android Studio preferred).
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills in Java and/or Kotlin with experience delivering production-quality applications.
  • Experience developing system-level software and tools using C++ and Python.
  • Experience using Git and GitHub for version control.
  • Experience developing customer-facing demonstration or test applications, including rapid prototyping and intuitive user interfaces.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


Desirable Experience

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of Android Enterprise, Mobile Device Management (MDM) or Mobile Application Management (MAM) solutions, including Microsoft Intune.
  • Experience with React Native.
  • Experience developing desktop GUI applications.
  • Comfortable working across Linux and Windows environments.
  • Experience developing applications for Wear OS and Android XR.
