Role Overview
We are seeking an AML Analyst to join our AMLCFT function at Pionew Ireland. You will contribute to supporting the development of the Firm’s AML/CFT framework, ensuring alignment with MiCA and CBI obligations and broader regulatory developments across the region. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented professional who is proactive and confident in taking ownership of a wide range of responsibilities in relation to AML/CFT. This position offers a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the evolving crypto landscape and contribute to building a strong AML/CFT compliance framework.
This role is suited to a candidate who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-stage environment, supporting both AML operations and the design of systems, controls, and processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of AML/CTF and cross-functional teams (including Operations and Technology) to help design, implement, and operate scalable AML controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of AML/CTF in developing and enhancing the AML/CFT framework, policies, procedures, and controls
- Perform CDD/KYB reviews, including assessment of corporate structures and UBO identification
- Review and investigate escalations of high-risk customers, including sanctions, PEP, and adverse media considerations, supporting onboarding and ongoing monitoring decisions
- Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts and escalated cases, identifying suspicious activity and supporting the preparation and submission of STRs to FIU Ireland
- Analyse red flags and emerging suspicious trends, and escalate potential risks or breaches to the Head of AML and Senior Management
- Support the implementation and operation of Travel Rule requirements and crypto-specific AML controls
- Assist in AML/CFT reporting, including internal MI and regulatory-related outputs
- Support internal and external audits, including inspections by the Central Bank of Ireland
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on AML/CFT initiatives and system/process improvements
- Assist in the design and delivery of AML/CFT training and awareness
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date AML/CFT records
Key Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in AML/CFT, preferably within crypto, financial services, fintech (CASP/VASP experience is highly desirable)
- Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations and frameworks (EU AML directives, MiCA, Travel Rule, FATF standards)
- Experience working closely with Product / Tech teams
- Experience in KYC/ KYB / institutional onboarding and understanding of corporate structures and UBO identification
- Experience in transaction monitoring and case investigation
- Familiarity with crypto AML tools (e.g. Chainalysis, TRM) is a strong advantage
- Experience working with onboarding/KYC tools (e.g. Sumsub)
- Ability to work in a start-up environment
