About the role

We're hiring a Lead Product Designer to own the design craft at CoinGate and shape how businesses, financial institutions, and end-users experience cryptocurrency payments. You will work as a core product partner alongside Product and Engineering, helping shape direction, challenge assumptions, and raise the quality of what we ship.

This is a high-agency role in a small, fast-moving team. We expect AI-assisted workflows to be part of how you explore, prototype, and communicate, and we expect you to be comfortable shaping ambiguous briefs into clear, shippable work.

What you'll do:

• Own projects from first concept to shipped product. Design the flows, write the UI copy, partner with engineers through launch, and take responsibility for the quality of the shipped customer experience.
• Build a deep understanding of our product, customers, market, and competitors. Speak with users and partners, run research, identify problems worth solving, and turn what you learn into clear briefs and product direction.
• Design complex, high-trust product flows across onboarding, verification, compliance, permissions, checkout integrations, APIs, webhooks, and configuration-heavy screens.
• Validate decisions with evidence: interviews, usability tests, funnel data, A/B tests, and session reviews. Use what you learn to improve the next iteration.
• Evolve our design system across components, patterns, documentation, accessibility, and adoption.
• Use AI tools to speed up exploration, prototyping, design-system checks, and early concept validation.
• Raise the design bar by reviewing work, giving clear feedback, unblocking others, and building trust through strong reasoning and shipped outcomes.

What we're looking for:

• A strong portfolio that shows product thinking, craft, trade-offs, and real product impact, not just polished screens.
• Strong track record of working independently and owning outcomes. Comfortable being the most senior or sole designer on a product area, shaping ambiguous problems, and driving work from discovery to shipped product.
• High agency, critical thinking, bias toward shipping, and the willingness to make calls with incomplete information.
• Strong user research habits. You speak to users, run interviews and usability tests, synthesise what you learn, and let real insight change your design decisions.
• Strong experience building and maintaining design systems used by real product teams.
• Comfortable working closely with engineers and reviewing implementation details to make sure the shipped product matches the design intent.
• Interest in crypto, stablecoins, and making blockchain-based products usable and trustworthy for real businesses.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a product designer, ideally in a product-led environment.

Nice to have:

• Previous experience in payments, fintech, financial services, or another regulated product environment.
• Experience designing for merchants, B2B SaaS, or developer-facing products.
• Ability to prototype realistic product experiences in front-end tools.
• Examples of using AI tools to speed up design, research, prototyping, or exploration.

Salary:

5000 to 6500 €/monthly gross. We are open to discussing a different salary based on your skills and experience.
