Job title: Lead Networking Engineer

Location: Leiden, Netherlands (Hybrid)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Lead Networking Engineer to lead the deployment, support, and enhancement of enterprise network infrastructure across data centers and remote offices. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available network solutions while leading technical projects, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment, upgrade, testing, and support of enterprise network infrastructure.
• Define network architecture, security standards, service levels, and technical design guidelines.
• Plan and deliver complex network infrastructure and connectivity projects across data centers and remote locations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Manage customer requests for new or enhanced network services and infrastructure.
• Monitor project progress, prepare management reports, and support budget and resource planning.
• Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements to enhance business operations.
• Lead negotiations with network carriers and service providers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure high levels of network security, availability, and performance.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 7–10 years of experience in network engineering and telecommunications.
• Strong expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and operations.
• Experience with LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and data center networking.
• Knowledge of network security principles, high-availability architectures, and disaster recovery.
• Experience managing network infrastructure projects and vendor relationships.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in large enterprise or mission-critical environments.
• Relevant networking certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with network monitoring, automation, and infrastructure management tools.
