Data Scientist

We're looking for a Data Scientist to join KWAN on a project where data meets real-world scale helping our client transform rich, cross-industry data into intelligent products and services. This is a Hybrid challenge with 2 office days based in Porto or Lisbon, Portugal.

🛠 The Challenge:

• Analyze and interpret large, complex datasets to generate actionable business insights; Build, deploy, and monitor machine learning models that support strategic initiatives and drive performance;
• Collaborate with data engineers to ensure reliable, accessible, and well-structured data for model development;
• Translate business needs into analytical questions and communicate results clearly to non-technical stakeholders;
• Design and implement feature engineering strategies to enhance model effectiveness; Develop and maintain pipelines for model training and evaluation;
• Promote best practices in MLOps/LLMOps, ensuring scalability and performance in production;
• Foster a data-first mindset across teams, encouraging statistical thinking and experimentation.

🔎 What you bring to the table:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field;
• 3+ years of solid experience developing, validating, and deploying ML models end-to-end; Hands-on experience with feature engineering, model tuning, and lifecycle management;
• Ability to bridge the gap between business problems and data solutions with clarity and precision;
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP;
• Confidence managing complexity and ambiguity with autonomy;
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort communicating with non-technical audiences;
• Curiosity, creativity, and a genuine drive to keep learning.
• Solid English proficiency (B2+).
