AI Research Lead

Powered by a proprietary database of 200M+ court decisions and legal documents, our platform delivers semantic search, contract analysis, and automated legal drafting — turning days of legal research into seconds.

Since our founding, we've grown to a team of 90+ people and established ourselves as Türkiye's leading AI legal assistant. Now, we're taking it global — expanding into France, Germany, Brasil, Italy and Spain to compete in the billion-dollar legaltech market.

What sets us apart? We don't use off-the-shelf AI. We build domain-specific, closed-circuit AI models with multi-layered verification systems that eliminate hallucinations and deliver answers backed by real citations and legal reasoning. Every feature we ship changes how lawyers work, not in theory, but in practice.

Apilex builds AI agents for legal work. Our new R&D lab measures, rigorously, how well AI performs real legal tasks  and figures out how to make it better and cheaper. This role is the backbone of that measurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Build legal benchmarks and ground-truth datasets, including annotation pipelines (working with legal-domain annotators/advisors).
• Design evals that distinguish short tasks from long-running agentic tasks, with metrics that fit each.
• Build and maintain the eval harness; run frontier and open-source models through it and produce clear, trustworthy comparisons.
• Track cost, latency, and quality together — not quality alone.
• Turn results into crisp findings that drive the team's next experiments.

What We're Looking For

• Strong Python and solid software engineering habits (reproducibility, version control, clean data pipelines).
• Hands-on experience evaluating LLMs or building eval/benchmark systems.
• A rigorous, detail-obsessed mindset about data quality and measurement.
• Comfort working with model APIs and basic agent/tool setups.
• Strong English

Nice to have

• Experience with annotation workflows or building datasets from domain experts.
• Familiarity with agent evaluation (tool use, multi-step tasks).
• Interest in or exposure to the legal domain.
