Job Description

On behalf of our public sector client Affinity is seeking a Developer on a 12-month contract.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy serverless AWS Lambda services
  • Integrate backend services with Amazon SES, SMS providers, APIs, and databases
  • Participate and contribute across the full software development lifecycle: inception, design, build, testing, deployment, and post-production support
  • Implement secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable application components
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, infrastructure, database, and security teams
  • Ensure solutions follow security, privacy, and operational standards

Deliverables

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy serverless AWS Lambda services and APIs
  • Technical onboarding, design review, backlog refinement, environment access, impact assessment
  • Development, configuration, integration, unit testing, DevOps support
  • System testing, defect resolution, security remediation, release preparation
  • Production deployment support, documentation, knowledge transfer

Qualifications

  • Professional software development experience with strong proficiency in C#/.NET and Python, with frontend development experience using React and Next.js
  • Strong hands-on experience with building and operating solutions in AWS (Amazon SES, SMS integrations, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, and database connectivity)
  • Hands-on expertise across multiple platforms such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and equivalent database technologies with SQL and data manipulation scripts
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and release management for large-scale, customer-facing applications
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, error handling, logging, monitoring, and secure coding practices
  • Hands-on experience with common monitoring & observability platforms (Splunk, Dynatrace) with ability to implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and resiliency strategies
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments, a desire to take on new and different technological challenges, and a spirit of continuous learning and growth
  • Knowledge of OTP, notification, or messaging workflows is an asset
