Full Stack Java Developer - Daily rate contract

My client based in Dublin City Centre is seeking a Full Stack Java Developer to join their technology team, supporting the development of business-critical applications within a fast-paced financial services environment.

This is a daily rate contract for 6 months.

Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite

This is a hands-on development role focused on designing, building and enhancing scalable, secure and high-performing applications. Working as part of an Agile team, you will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, developing both front-end and back-end solutions while collaborating closely with business and technology stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain full-stack applications using Java and modern development frameworks.
• Build and enhance scalable, secure and high-performing applications.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Design and implement responsive user interfaces using modern front-end technologies.
• Analyse, troubleshoot and resolve application issues across the full technology stack.
• Perform testing, debugging and performance optimisation to ensure application reliability.
• Collaborate with business users, technology teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices.
• Support Agile delivery through sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Mentor junior team members where appropriate and contribute technical expertise across the team.
• Ensure development activities comply with security, governance and risk management standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• 2–5 years' experience as a Full Stack Java Developer, ideally within financial services.
• Strong Java development experience, including Spring Boot.
• Experience developing front-end applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript and Angular or a similar framework.
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Solid SQL skills with experience working with relational databases such as Oracle.
• Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working within Agile development environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with JUnit, Mockito or similar testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of Python.
• Exposure to AI tools or AI integration.
• Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark.
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging technologies.
• Experience working with AWS or other cloud platforms.
