Lightfox Games is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Systems Designer to join our Vancouver, British Columbia based team to work on an unannounced mobile game for a world-class IP and Publisher. This is a fully remote role. Vancouver-based team members may be asked to travel to our Seattle office once or twice a year for on-sites.


Responsibilities

  • Own balance and progression pacing, building and maintaining spreadsheets for upgrades, combat tuning, and economic inputs to afford the upgrades
  • Partner closely with Feature Teams, Product, and Leadership to align system design with business and player goals
  • Conceptualize, pitch, and iterate on system designs with the broader team, incorporating feedback from leadership, product, and data
  • Analyze player behavior and live data to tune and improve systems over time


Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional game development experience, including meaningful ownership of systems design on at least one shipped mobile free-to-play title
  • Demonstrated experience designing and supporting progression systems, economies, or LiveOps features in a live environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document and present systems to cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and comfort using player data to inform design decisions
  • Highly self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable working in small, fast-moving teams


Nice to have

  • Experience designing systems for ARPG or 4X games
  • Experience running small, high-functioning, agile teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience modeling free-to-play balance or working with monetization systems using Excel or Google Sheets
  • Experience writing/managing tutorial systems, narrative, and other early funnel UX
  • Experience working within an established IP or licensed property
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to help model, balance, or prototype game systems
  • Experience working in Unity


Compensation

CA$90,000 – CA$115,000 depending on experience, plus health/vision/dental coverage, RRSP matching, and equity.
