Head of Mobile Engineering

Our client, a leading telecommunications company, is hiring a Head of Mobile Engineering to lead a team of developers and drive the organization’s core experience. This role focuses on creating exceptional user experiences across iOS, Android, and Web platforms.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the position requires an unwavering focus on innovation, working closely with the product team to deliver features that surpass expectations.

Candidates must possess expertise in iOS, Android, Web, and backend development, with a strong preference for experience in VoIP or messaging technologies.

What You'll Do:

• Oversee a multidisciplinary team of Engineering Managers, analysts, and developers across front-end, back-end, and cross-platform systems to deliver our clients' Core Messaging and Voice Experience.

• Develop and manage engineering roadmaps for iOS, Android, and backend systems, focusing on customer-facing experiences.

• Partner closely with Product Managers to design and deliver innovative, customer-centric features and capabilities.

• Translate product requirements into actionable technical designs and delivery plans, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.

• Monitor app performance using key metrics, identify areas for optimization, and implement improvements.

• Foster efficiency in development processes by identifying opportunities for enhancement and implementing best practices.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, managers, and technical leaders to drive technical excellence.

What You'll Need:

• 5+ years managing teams of software engineers.

• 10+ years of experience working in software engineering, in the mobile space (Android & iOS).

• Deep understanding of iOS, Android, and backends that drive mobile apps.

• Well-versed in the intricacies of mobile design, development, and deployment.

• Experience with Voice over IP (VoIP) and or messaging (SMS, text, RCS) technologies would be an asset but is not a requirement.

• Strong product mindset.

• Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives.

• Expertise in Agile methodology and managing distributed development projects.

• Proficiency in establishing KPIs and driving best practices in software development.
