About Compugen

Compugen is Canada's largest privately-owned Technology Ally. To innovate industries, transform businesses, connect communities, and drive meaningful change, we must think bigger, reach broader, and act bolder. Through knowledge, curiosity, and collaboration, Compugen helps organizations delivering experience by design. This is what it means to be human-centered and technology-enabled.

Position Overview:

Compugen is looking for a UX/UI Designer with extensive technical experience in creating intuitive, user-centered designs and optimizing digital experiences across platforms. A SAAS technology solution has been identified that will require a certain degree of customization to best serve the unique needs of the future state. The UX/UI Consultant is expected to work collaboratively with the implementation partner and stakeholders to cohesively enhance user experience for internal and external users.

The office is based in Melville, Saskatchewan (Preference will be given to local applicants, but remote work is an option if you are willing to travel occasionally).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct user research to understand the needs, pain points, and behaviors of diverse user groups, including internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Gather feedback via interviews, surveys, focus groups, and usability testing.
  • Create detailed user personas and journey maps to guide the design process.
  • Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for the primary platform and other tools or systems within the program.
  • Work collaboratively with implementation partners to develop wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Ensure the designs are aligned with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG compliance).
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of the designs.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive design system, including components, system guides, and interaction patterns, to promote consistency across all systems and projects.
  • Define and document design principles, tones, and guidelines for use by other teams.
  • Work with the branding teams to ensure alignment with the organizational visual identity.
  • Partner with product managers, business analysts, developers, solution providers, implementation partners, and other stakeholders to align design work with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Participate in workshops, brainstorming sessions, and review meetings to co-create solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance on best practices in UX/UI design to support overall program objectives.
  • Conduct usability testing on prototypes and final designs to identify and resolve issues early in the development process.
  • Use data from analytics tools and user feedback to refine and improve designs iteratively.
  • Assist in integrating new tools, technologies, and systems into the business ecosystems by ensuring a seamless user experience across all platforms.
  • Ensure scalability and adaptability of the design to accommodate future enhancements and integrations.
  • Document design decisions, research findings, and testing outcomes for future reference and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide regular updates to program leadership on progress, challenges, and key achievements.
  • Train internal teams on the design system and UX/UI best practices to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Create guides and resources to support the organization's ongoing design efforts.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Active certifications in User Experience design, such as Certified User Experience Analyst(CXA) by Human Factors International (HFI), UX Design by Google, Nielsen Norman Group certifications, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in UX/UI design with a proven track record of designing and delivering user-centric digital solutions.
  • Experience in creating wireframes, prototypes, and mockups tailored to user needs, preferably in the agriculture, insurance, crop insurance, public service, or financial services industry.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing, preferably with producers/farmers, agents, and agriculture stakeholders.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing complex data-driven platforms, preferably within the public sector, citizen services, agriculture, or insurance context.
