Job Description
Department Overview
Overview
While "Rakuten Ichiba" is an EC marketplace business model that provides a platform where stores can sell their own products,
"Rakuten Fashion" is a 1st Party business model in which Rakuten operate brands from product selection, marketing, sales, payment, shipping, and customer support all at once.
Recently, the number of luxury and designer brand shops has increased, making it a sales site specializing in famous fashion brands from Japan and overseas.
We are recruiting this time to increase the quality, quantity, and speed of participation of brands with various business forms, including history and manufacturing.
You will oversee the brand acquisition as a business partner together with brands, such as consulting brands, analyzing issues, and making proposals by using the available asset of Rakuten.
By working at Rakuten, which operates Japan's largest fashion e-commerce business, you can develop skills through contact with brands such as conglomerates, international, and designer brands.
"Rakuten Fashion" is positioned as one of the focus businesses of the Rakuten Group and is one of the businesses that has been expanding at a high rate of growth in recent years. The contribution that you make will make you feel that you are contributing to the fashion industry and society.
You will take ownership of each brand acquisition and work with multiple teams and departments from development, organization, logistics, and marketing.
In addition, you will work on problem-solving skills such as planning and strategy. We have an organizational culture that respects challenges, so it is an environment that encourages actions aimed at achieving the best results through proactive improvement and team discussions.
Position
Why We Hire
In addition to luxury, designer, international, and cosmetic brands, we are challenging various categories, discovering up-and-coming talented designers through co-sponsorship activities for Fashion Week Tokyo, and brands that have not yet landed in Japan.
Currently, about 7 members are engaged in the newly acquired positions, but we are planning to increase the number to strengthen the scheme to face a wider range of brands. In the future, in addition to the opportunity to advance your career to a leader position leading a team, there is also the possibility of a career path such as concurrently serving as a merchandiser.
Position Details
You will be responsible for negotiating store openings for brands (including cosmetics) that are in famous department stores. While building relationships with the inner circle of the fashion industry, such as exhibitions, in this position, you will be involved in the formulation of distribution expansion plans. In addition, since the MD department, as well as other departments such as development and organization, work together to develop a roadmap for store openings, you can acquire a wide range of knowledge and experience.
Early Stage: New Development
Attracting brands to the Rakuten Fashion Luxury Designers Cosmetics Zone by leveraging industry knowledge while deepening understanding of the Rakuten Group's business.
Mid-term: Distribution expansion measures
Proposing solutions from a strategic point of view for attracting large brands. Business design to aim for distribution expansion while mainly valuing the branding. Build a business scheme that collaborates with other departments such as EC store development and logistics.
Mid to long term: Management
Team management is considered due to the growth of business and members. You’ll oversee planning of brand and distribution acquisition.
Work Environment
I belong to the business development team of the LUXURY section, and mainly contribute to the acquisition of new brands and expansion of distribution as a bridge between Rakuten and brands. We currently have 7 employees, and we plan to increase the number of employees as we expand our business in the future.
