The opportunity


Based in our Subiaco headquarters, the Senior Employee Relations will play a leading role in demonstrating the organisations commitment to the Altrad Values (Courage, Respect, Humility, Solidarity and Conviviality).


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Acting at the organisations subject matter expert on matters related to employee and industrial relations which includes undertaking coaching and providing training and support to operational leaders.
  • Support HR/IR Manager in ongoing development of wider HR Advisory team
  • Involvement in all aspects of Employee Relations including;
  • Employee Relations - Case Management (performance, disciplinary, complaint handling)
  • Carrying out complex and sensitive investigations into employment-related matters
  • Support the HR/IR Manager in the negotiation and implementation of Enterprise Agreements
  • Managing ongoing relationships with employee representatives (including unions).
  • Developing and implementing best practices that ensure compliance with employment legislation, Enterprise Agreements or Awards, Contracts of Employment, internal policies and procedures and Client ER Standards.
  • Support the HR/IR Manager with employment-related legal claims (e.g. unfair dismissals) in the FWC and other employment-related tribunals.


Who do we want to hear from?


The successful candidate will have:


  • 5 + years’ of experience in an Employee Relations role, preferably within the mining, energy or construction sectors (on-site experience will be highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing a wide range of Employee Relations matters, with a track record of achieving outcomes that align with business strategy.
  • Hands on experience in industrial relations matters including but not limited to; negotiating enterprise agreements, managing day-to-day working relationships with unions and resolving disputes (within the FWC or other employment tribunals).
  • A willingness to coach best practice behaviours, empowering field managers with the knowledge and skills needed to handle employee relations matters effectively.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
