Telecom Lead

Overview

The Telecom Lead will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of telecommunications systems within oil and gas projects.

The role involves the supervision of Telecom packages such as LAN/WAN, VoIP, CCTV, UHF/VHF radio systems, and other communication systems.

The Telecom Lead will also be responsible for field design activities, including cable routing, telecom layouts, and 3D model reviews, ensuring compliance with project and industry standards.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage telecom design and implementation across projects, including systems such as LAN/WAN, VoIP, CCTV, UHF/VHF radio systems, Microwave, Radio repeaters, VSAT, OTN, PAEAS, NDB, IDS, and WMS.
Perform telecom field design activities including cable routing, bulk MTO, telecom/network layouts, and supervision of 3D modeling.
Ensure all telecom design and installation processes meet cybersecurity requirements, network architectures, and communication protocol standards.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring proper integration of telecom systems within project workflows.
Ensure compliance with Qatar Gas (QG), Qatar Petroleum (QP), and other international standards for telecommunications systems.
Participate in project reviews, audits, and site surveys to assess design accuracy, system performance, and installation quality.
Provide technical expertise in telecom system specifications, requisition, and vendor follow-up, ensuring timely delivery of systems and equipment.
Monitor project timelines, costs, and risks related to telecom systems and ensure on-time project completion.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Telecommunications, or related engineering discipline.

Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills

Specialization in Instrumentation and Telecommunications.
Proficient in MS Office and design software relevant to telecom/network layouts.

Years Of Experience

More than 10 years of experience in telecom systems design and management in the oil and gas industry.

Technical Knowledge

Telecom Packages Expertise: Proven experience in designing, specifying, and managing telecom packages such as LAN/WAN, VoIP, CCTV, UHF/VHF radio systems, Microwave, Radio repeaters, VSAT, OTN, PAEAS, NDB, IDS, and WMS, as well as telecom field design activities including cable routing, bulk MTO, and network layouts.
Cybersecurity and Network Protocols: Strong understanding of cybersecurity measures, network architectures, and communication protocols, with demonstrated experience in implementing these standards in complex telecom projects. Working knowledge of QG, QP standards is essential.
