PRIVATE EQUITY ANALYST INTERNSHIP CALL

Sergiwa Capital is recruiting technology fluent Analyst Interns for part-time or full-time internships.
What You Can Expect:
As a valued member of our internship program, you can expect a hands-on experience that will immerse you in the world of private equity. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals who are eager to share their expertise and knowledge with you. Our internship program focuses on essential aspects of the private equity industry, including deal sourcing, industry analysis, financial modeling, due diligence, and investment strategies. Additionally, our interns develop key teamwork and leadership skills that are critical to developing longer term relationships that translate into successful careers.
Our research suggests that our analyst interns learn more in three weeks than most full-time investment banking and consulting analysts will in their first seven months. As a result of the learning curve, we expect applicants to be highly motivated and talented to learn both in an independent unstructured way but also to utilize our internal proprietary learning resources to guide them along with team leaders, the investment team and partners’ experience.
Academic Credits / Pay: This is an unpaid internship. Academic credits may be available based on the school's policy.
Hours per Week: Part-time (20 hours/week) OR Full-time (40 hours/week) options available
Location: Remote / Virtual
Role: It is expected that you will be engaged in the following functions, either as a contributor and/or a team lead. Please note that the percent time spent is indicative, and your individual experience may vary.
- Conduct multi-domain research to support and identify attractive sub-sectors and industries (15-25%)
- Research and identify companies and management teams that would be attractive acquisition candidates (15-20%)
- Contact and participate in phone calls with investment bankers, brokers, management, and companies to source and analyze deals (10-15%)
- Support transaction execution including financial and operational, financial analysis, investment memorandum preparation, and extensive industry and technical due diligence (15-20%)
- Draft financial models, technology reviews, strategic company briefs, investor decks, and white papers (20-25%)
- Attend training sessions and internal discussions related to the above topics. Document and improve processes (15-20%)
- For Analyst Team Lead Interns, help with on-boarding, training and managing junior Private Equity Analyst Interns (15 – 20%)
What We Expect:
Minimum Requirements:
- Highly motivated individuals possessing initiative with an interest to learn about the private equity industry
- Exemplary work ethic with a track record of successful internships and jobs
- Prior knowledge in accounting, financial statements, and at least one of the following areas: data science, software engineering, electrical and/or computer engineering and network engineering
- Pursuing or completed one or more following degrees: accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, econometrics, financial engineering, operations research, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, network engineering, and data science degrees with advanced courses
- Expertise in market sizing, business analysis and operating model construction
- Expertise in using spreadsheet applications for financial modeling e.g. DCF and LBO modeling
- Experience in using software such as Capital IQ and Pitchbook and other databases to research acquisition targets and obtaining company financial data.
Preferable Additional Requirements:
- Experienced in auditing and/or preparing financial statements for investors
- Pursuing or obtained licenses equivalent to CPA or CFA charter
- Previously worked in data science, software engineering, and other data rich quantitative roles and wish to apply your technical knowledge along with this internship's education to construct financial models and identify appropriate acquisition targets
- Understanding of fundamental investing and ability to identify undervalued companies with growth potential
- Experience in analysis and extrapolation from large sets of incomplete quantitative and qualitative data
- Familiarity with basic merger models, accretion/dilution analysis, and synergies
- Understanding of long term strategic value creation planning and methods to increase shareholder’s equity
