Backend Developer

Role:

I am currently working with an Irish tech company who are expanding their backend team. The team are based across Ireland and are able to offer fully remote working across the North and South. It is a backend developer role, for an experienced engineer, requiring a number of years of experience in Ruby, and similar languages. You will be joining an established team with a range of junior to lead engineers working with Ruby and other OOP languages.

Although it is a backend role, any previous experience with front end technologies will prove beneficial. The role is remote but requires being based in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Ruby-based applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Work on both server-side logic and integration of front-end elements developed by other team members.
• Ensure code quality, best practices, and testing strategies are followed.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues as they arise.
• Contribute to the improvement of development processes and the overall product.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Ruby Developer
• Some experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or popular front-end frameworks.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
• Experience with Git, version control, and collaborative tools like GitHub.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote team.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with additional programming languages or frameworks.
• Exposure to cloud services such as AWS or Azure.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerization tools.
