Unity Lead Developer

The client seeks an experienced and motivated Lead Unity 3D Developer to lead game development projects. This is a fully remote position, meaning work can be performed from anywhere. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Unity development and a proven ability to lead and mentor a team of developers while driving innovation and delivering high-quality, high-performance applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

• Plan and implement game functionality, including user interfaces, game mechanics, and simulations.

• Establish development pipelines and strategies to ensure the quality and performance of applications.

• Serve as the primary technical contact for project-related discussions, providing updates and addressing concerns.

• Drive innovation and suggest new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve development processes.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure the quality and maintainability of codebases.

• Deploy and maintain game functionality, ensuring seamless and engaging user experiences.

• Identify and resolve bottlenecks in processes, applications, and overall project delivery.

• Participate in recruiting efforts for team expansion, as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and mentoring development teams in a collaborative environment.

• Strong expertise in C# and Unity game development tools and technologies.

• In-depth knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and game development best practices.

• Demonstrated experience developing major technical systems for entertainment software or leading game design for commercially released games.

• Proficiency in manipulating 3D models, physics-based models, and real-time simulations.

• Advanced technical skills in 2D and 3D game development, including Unity’s physics, rendering, and AI systems.

• Exceptional coding skills with a sharp eye for detail, good troubleshooting skills, and the ability to identify and resolve code errors and bottlenecks.

• Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

• Knowledge of memory and space optimization, along with profiling and optimizing game and rendering performance.

Additional Skills

• Strong 3D math skills and proficiency with C# object-oriented programming.

• Experience with game assets (meshes, animations, materials) and performance optimization for both GPU and CPU.

• Expertise in creating custom shaders and visual effects using Unity.

• Familiarity with debugging, performance optimization, and mobile platform game development.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Compensation

The role offers a salary of £55,000 to £75,000 annually, depending on experience.
