The Role

Were recruiting for a Senior Delivery Manager here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative End User Computing team.

This role aligns against Senior Delivery Manager from the Government Digital and Data Framework

The End User Computing team sits within the Technology Services team within Digital and Technology, which is responsible for all infrastructure, end user computing, onsite support and delivery of technology projects. It has responsibility for 95,000 devices and infrastructure across 900+ sites. 

Delivery Managers ensure teams have the right environment to deliver the vision, products and services, iteratively and ensure the team collaborates, communicates and focuses on what is most important. They work at the heart of teams to provide direction within a service or programme.

Delivery Managers are accountable for building, motivating, supporting and facilitating teams as well as removing obstacles and blockers that get in their way. They challenge approaches inside and outside of the team they are working with and facilitate a focus on the outcome.

Delivery Managers have a deep understanding of agile practices and make judgements on the use of appropriate tools and techniques for their environment. They proactively manage dependencies, identify and manage priorities, overcome obstacles and get the best value against constraints. Delivery Managers may manage risks, budgets and people.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Delivery Manager within the Strategy and Governance Team, you are;

  • Accountable for the effective delivery of complex, high-risk products and services, engaging senior stakeholders with strong communication skills.
  • Extensive experience across various products and services throughout their lifecycle, serving as the main point of escalation while coaching and mentoring delivery managers at different levels.
  • Leads multidisciplinary teams, continuously improving products of significant scale and complexity.
  • Builds, maintains, and motivates teams, ensuring collaboration and focus on priorities.
  • Facilitates learning and development through individual and team coaching.
  • Drives the adoption of agile practices across the organization.
  • Communicates agile principles, scrum practices, and the overall operating model.
  • Champions the use of metrics and objective measures by teams.
  • Conducts daily follow-ups with team members to ensure projects are on track and goals are met.
  • Maintains objectivity in troubleshooting issues using agile principles.
  • Act as the Scrum Master, holding stand-up meetings, scrum of scrum sessions, retrospectives and other collaboration sessions with cross-functional teams to review project status and support teams in determining resource allocations to maintain agile practices and ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Work in collaboration across the teams to optimise the ways of working across the teams - through continuous improvement initiative adoption, working group outputs, process review and refinements, strategic tooling adoption and best practice applications.
  • Experienced in team health, conflict resolution, and performance acceleration.
  • Promotes transparency and external understanding of work.
  • Creates an open, collaborative, flexible, and adaptable work environment.
  • Quickly adjusts to shifting priorities, unexpected challenges, and changing requirements in fast-paced Agile environments.
  • Advocates and communicates team activities to build trust and authenticity, effectively responding to challenges.

Essential

Agile and Lean practices

  • You possess extensive knowledge and lead the adoption of Agile methodologies across multiple squads. This includes advanced proficiency in Jira and other Lean tools and techniques. You are capable of coaching both within and outside the team, advocating for these tools and techniques, and staying innovative by keeping up with the latest trends.

Team dynamics and collaboration

  • Fosters continuous improvement by reflecting on processes, identifying enhancements, and implementing changes.

Maintaining delivery momentum

  • Expertise and experienced in solving issues, unblocking problems, and driving teams to meet delivery commitments.
  • Proven track record of managing dependencies across teams, departments, or entire organizations.

Planning

  • You can use a continuous approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, managing uncertainty, metrics and measurements, contingency planning and road mapping.

Communicating between the technical and non-technical

  • You have the ability to communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context.

Financial management

  • You can report on financial delivery and can monitor cost and budget.

Willingness to be assessed against  the requirements for BPSS clearance
