IT Networking Engineer Job Desecription:
Job Overview: The IT Networking Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization’s networking infrastructure. This role involves working with hardware and software solutions to ensure network stability, security, and optimal performance. The Networking Engineer will also troubleshoot networking issues, implement network upgrades, and support users across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design and Configuration:
Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
Develop network architecture and infrastructure for internal and external services.
Network Troubleshooting and Support:
Identify and resolve network performance issues, connectivity issues, and hardware failures.
Provide technical support for network-related issues.
Monitor network performance and optimize network performance by adjusting configurations or upgrading hardware.
Security Management:
Implement security protocols to safeguard networks from unauthorized access, cyberattacks, and data breaches.
Configure firewalls, VPNs, and other security solutions.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Maintenance and Upgrades:
Perform routine maintenance and updates on network devices and systems.
Troubleshoot and fix problems related to network equipment and connectivity.
Implement hardware and software upgrades to keep the network up to date and performing at its best.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, updates, and changes.
Prepare and present reports on network performance and any ongoing issues or improvements.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other IT teams and departments to ensure network compatibility and integration.
Provide guidance and training to other employees on network usage and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience in network engineering, network administration, or similar roles.
Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
Experience with routing and switching protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, etc.).
Familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and software.
Strong understanding of network security practices and tools (firewalls, VPNs, etc.).
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
Experience with cloud-based networking solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Knowledge of network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, etc.).
Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
Working Conditions:
This position may require occasional after-hours or weekend work for network upgrades, troubleshooting, or emergencies.
May require travel to different office locations or client sites.
Salary package (5,000 - 7,000)
