Software Engineer/Java Developer

One of our federal government clients is seeking to engage Multiple Software Engineer/Java Developers for Canberra location

Please note Candidate must have Australian Citizenship

Initial contract duration-4 months

Extension term-24 months

Location of work-Canberra ,ACT

Working arrangements-Hybrid

Position 1-

• Develop software applications to meet business requirements and support Corporate Systems Branch projects/programs using Java, Angular, and Micronaut or Spring/Spring Boot , adhering to the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices and processes.

Essential Criteria -

• Minimum of five years in full-stack design and development with strong skills in Java, Angular, Micronaut, and JavaScript.

• Experience with front-end frameworks (React, Angular, etc) and back-end frameworks (Spring, Micronaut etc).

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS and CI/CD processes.

• Proficiency in Angular frameworks to build and maintain interactive user interfaces.

• Designing and implementing Java-based applications as well as being able to reverse engineer existing applications.

• Demonstrated ability to develop business solutions through the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices and processes to meet the deliverables as a developer.

• Analysing user requirements / user stories to inform application design with minimal defects.

• Experience in developing front end applications and working collaboratively with business stakeholders in the co-design, co-build, co-deliver phases.

• Ability to develop software where users are authenticated and unauthenticated (MyGov for external users and VANguard Federated Authentication Service (FAS) for internal users/single sign on etc).

Position 2-

Essential criteria-

1. • Minimum of five years of experience as a Java developer.

• Proven ability to develop business solutions through the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices and processes to meet deliverables as a Java developer.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the development lifecycle.

• Ability to drive innovation by staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

• Experience in developing front-end applications and working collaboratively with business stakeholders in the co-design, co-build, and co-deliver phases.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.

• Demonstrated initiative, highly motivated, and focused on delivering quality outcomes.

• Experience working in a project team delivering outcomes within defined timelines to agreed quality standards.

2. • Experience working in a small multi-disciplinary team based on an Agile software development methodology. • Proficiency in Java/J2EE/JEE design and development. • Experience working in an enterprise software development environment and ability to leverage existing software frameworks and development processes (GIT & Azure DevOps, recent experience developing applications on IBM WebSphere Application Server/Portal Server platforms using PrimeFaces UI framework/MyFaces implementation). • Ability to interpret user requirements/user stories and produce code with minimal defects. • Ability to develop software for both authenticated and unauthenticated users (MyGov for external users and VANguard Federated Authentication Service (FAS) for internal users/single sign-on). • Proficiency with IntelliJ and Maven build tools. • Experience using SOAP, XML, EJB 3, JPA, and Web Services/RESTful APIs. • Familiarity with writing JUnit test cases.
