Junior Data Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join our Digital Sales Hub in Barcelona, where you will build and improve data pipelines while collaborating with analysts and business teams to ensure data quality and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, run and improve data pipelines:
    • Ensure their efficiency, robustness, and scalability.
    • Enable the continuous ingestion of data from variety of sources into our Datalake.
  • Collaborate and consult data analysts from different teams and locations:
    • Establish high standards for data modeling, quality, reliability, and performance.
    • Support for implementation and operationalization of analytics solutions.
    • Encourage and implement best practices for clean coding and effective data governance.
    • Enable them to leverage the power of our data virtualization layer for data integration and modelling.
  • Work closely with business teams:
    • Understand their data requirements and provide suitable solutions.
    • Assist in creating and adopting robust data governance practices.
  • Cooperate with IT teams to improve the analytics environment and toolset.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. PhD is a plus.
  • +1 years of professional work experience.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of Python with hands-on experience in building scripts or data workflows. Experience with libraries like Pandas and NumPy is a plus.
  • Familiar with the fundamentals of SQL for data engineering tasks.
  • Understands fundamental concepts of data modeling and data governance, with a desire to build deeper knowledge.
  • Experience with version control tools, such as Git.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with APIs and their basic integration processes.
  • A basic understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS, with exposure to services like Lambda, S3 and Athena.
  • Awareness of Infrastructure as Code principles, with the potential to learn tools like Terraform.
  • Exposure to containerization tools such as Docker.
  • Experience with Data Virtualization and respective tools or platforms such as Denodo.
