The Job

As a Data Scientist – Energy Optimization at SpotMyEnergy, you will drive the development of advanced models and algorithms to optimize household energy consumption. By combining your expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics, you will create smarter, automated energy management solutions. Working closely with Product Managers and Engineers, you’ll transform data-driven insights into impactful products that promote sustainability and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Modeling & Optimization: Build and refine data-driven models that optimize energy consumption in households, integrating machine learning and statistical methods.
• Algorithm Development: Design predictive algorithms to automate energy management and deliver smarter solutions for our customers.
• Data Engineering: Work with large energy datasets, ensuring clean, structured, and insightful analysis.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to translate technical innovations into impactful products.
• Insights for Innovation: Use analytics to uncover trends and provide actionable recommendations for smarter energy solutions.
  
  

Your profile

• Data Science Skills: Strong expertise in data science, including machine learning, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics (e.g., Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field).
• Programming Expertise: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Analytical Mindset: Ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets and translate them into real-world applications.
• Experience with Time Series Data: Familiarity with time series analysis and working with time-dependent data is a significant advantage.
• Experience with Global Forecasting Models: Some prior experience using state of the art global forecasting methodologies on massive time series data sets is highly preferred.
• Energy Sector Experience (Preferred): Knowledge of energy systems, smart metering, or sustainability topics is highly valued.
• Team Player: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across Product and Tech teams.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English and sufficient German proficiency to discuss solutions effectively with team members and stakeholders.
