DevOps Engineer

Location: Canberra – onsite 4 days a week.

Contract: 12 month contract with 12 month extension.

Eligibility: Australian citizenship required.

About the opportunity:

Seeking an experienced Infrastructure DevOps Engineer to work together with technical staff in furthering the development of a Data Management & Analysis Platform.

You will implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

You will have demonstrated the following experience:

• Minimum 5 years in a similar role.

• Proficient & demonstrate experience designing, deploying and maintaining Linux systems.

• Knowledge and experience in Linux administration.

• Using collaboration tools that include git, issue tracking and wikis (e.g. GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps)

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry qualifications.

Desirable criteria:

• Linux administration (e.g. Ubuntu, RHEL)

• Containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)

• Automation tooling (e.g. Ansible)

• NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra)

• SQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)

• Web servers (e.g. nginx)

• Message queues/event streaming (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka)

• Workflow orchestration (e.g. Nifi, Prefect, Airflow)

• Cloud platform providers (e.g. Azure, AWS or Google)

• Centralised logging (e.g. Elastic stack ELK, Splunk)

• Ensuring best security practices and processes (e.g. Essential 8, Information Security Manual)

• Understanding network protocols

• Working with Agile methodologies (e.g. Kanban, Scrum)
