Network Engineer

Network Engineer – Hybrid – Oslo


I am currently working with one of the world’s leading geo-data specialist organisations in Oslo which is looking for a highly skilled network engineer to join their Network and Operations Team. This is an international company and a global team with people across Oslo, Australia, Singapore and the US. But the home and core of the team is Oslo and that is where they want you! This team is the 3rd line supporter team for the entire company and they support all of the infrastructure and networks. This is a role where you will cover a lot of different things but each team member is an expert in their area.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Implementation: Design scalable, secure networks; plan and deploy hardware/software upgrades; configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs.
  • Network Management and Maintenance: Monitor performance, ensure reliability, perform tuning, troubleshoot issues, and manage patching, and updates.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain network diagrams, and procedures, and create performance/issue reports.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with teams to support infrastructure, and guide junior engineers.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with vendors and service providers for network services and support.


Requirements:

  • Education: BSc/MSc in Computer Science, IT, or related field; certifications like CCNP or JNCIP are highly desirable.
  • Experience: 5-7 years in network engineering, focused on complex network design, implementation, and management.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF), IPv4/IPv6, Cisco/Juniper hardware, firewalls, VPNs, network security, and Linux systems.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities; capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Task Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
