Senior Software Engineer (e-commerce)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our e-commerce platform, leveraging the power of commercetools. You will be a key contributor to building scalable, robust, and high-performing solutions that drive our online business. This role requires a deep understanding of e-commerce focused web development, API development, and best practices in software engineering. At the client, you can thrive in a team environment using your expertise to assist in the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of the client digital products. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of the business.

Responsibilities:

Build & maintain e-commerce platform features, including custom components, product listing pages, product detail pages, cart customizations, checkout processes, order management, search functionality, and integrations with payment gateways, shipping providers, and other third-party services
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing database queries, and improving overall system performance
Write unit and integration tests, collaborating with team members to ensure software quality, while participating in the testing process.
Troubleshoot complex issues, identifying root causes, and implement effective solutions
Implement security measures to protect customer data and prevent fraud
Collaborate with marketing personnel to implement SEO best practices to improve search engine rankings and drive organic traffic
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software
Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and efficient software solutions
Autonomously develop requested functionality in accordance with best practices and with high quality
Effectively collaborate in a team environment by performing code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other engineers
Contribute to task estimation efforts
Mentor and guide other software engineers
Effectively collaborate with business stakeholders to understand desired scope and solve business problems
Stay up-to-date with the latest software development technologies and trends

Requirements:

Required Skills:

Demonstrated experience developing and implementing significant features within e-commerce web applications
Strong proficiency in modern web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, GraphQL, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript.
Understanding of responsive design, with knowledge of the differences and challenges in developing for mobile versus desktop.
Proficient in SQL and utilizing Relational Database Management Systems
Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Capacity to apply critical thinking and an analytical mindset to solve problems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Version control with git-based source control repositories
Agile framework experience

Desired Skills:

Experience with commercetools
Experience programming with GoLang
5+ years experience in software engineering
Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Docker, Github Actions)
